'Vanderpump Rules' Star Ariana Madix Just Gave an Update on Her Relationship With Daniel Wai

In March 2023, Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval's relationship fell spectacularly to pieces after it was learned that Tom cheated on her with their Vanderpump Rules co-star Rachel "Raquel" Leviss. However, Ariana managed to overcome the Scandoval debacle and came out in a much better place.

Not only did the Bravo royalty go on to make her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago, but she met a new guy: Daniel Wai.

During the Season 11 premiere of Vanderpump Rules, Ariana revealed that she met her new boyfriend at a mutual friend's wedding just days after Scandoval broke.

Then in April 2023, they attended Coachella together, and Daniel was seen getting quite cozy with the Dancing With the Stars alum — he even made her Instagram. By May 2023, Ariana was already discussing their relationship in interviews, and it was official that they were dating.

But there's always been a minor issue with their love story: Daniel lives in New York, and Ariana lives in Los Angeles. So, are they still together, given the long distance? Here's what we know about the current status of Ariana and Daniel's relationship.

Yes, Ariana is still dating Daniel, who works in New York as a personal trainer. In January 2024, they were finally in one place at the same time as she made her Broadway debut in Chicago that month. As she told E! News at the time: "He's definitely been very supportive during my Chicago rehearsals." She added: "Just making sure that I have dinner ready afterwards, making sure that I'm foam rolling and doing all the things I need to do to stay healthy."

The show closed in late March 2023 and Ariana went back to the West Coast. However, she gave an update on their relationship on an episode of Balancing Act with Kristen Doute and Luke Broderick in April 2024. Ariana maintained that the long distance was working out well but was excited about the future of their relationship and potentially splitting her time on both coasts.

She said: “I would love to be more bicoastal. Having these few months here [in New York City], I would love to. Obviously there's so much work to be done in LA and so many things I need to get done in LA. But I would love to kind of do this more. You know, do a few months here and a few months there. And obviously, this is all just like fantasizing and you know. But I think it would be really cool to be able to come back here [to New York City] for longer periods of time.”

With Ariana clearly having put her decade-long relationship with Tom in the rearview mirror, it seems that he is also at a point where he would be open to love again.

While speaking to The Bachelor alum Nick Viall on his popular podcast, The Viall Files, the much-maligned reality star said, "Am I ready to protect somebody's heart? Yes, of course I am."

Tom, who naturally appeared on the podcast alongside his ride-or-die Tom Schwartz, went on to reflect about his affair, "I don't know what to say except that, like, I f---ed up. And I know that I did that. It doesn't matter the scenario — it doesn't matter. I f---ed up and I know that. I do love hard, I really do."

Since January 2024, Tom has been romantically linked to model Victoria Lee Robinson.

Meanwhile, Rachel has perhaps learned something from what went down in 2023. In a mea culpa Instagram post shared as the New Year kicked off, she wrote in part, "As we set intentions into the New Year, I vow to be a better friend to the ones close in my life. To those that have stood by me through my darkest days, I will always remember and cherish you."

Unfortunately, the post wasn't very well received, with one commenter snarking, "Just don't sleep with your friends' boyfriends this year."
