Singer, actress, director, and literal goddess Beyoncé Knowles-Carter was born in Houston, Texas, and rose to fame as part of the girl group Destiny's Child alongside Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
In 2003, the group went on hiatus and Beyoncé pursued a solo career with the release of her first solo album, "Dangerously in Love." Destiny's Child officially disbanded in 2006 and Beyoncé released her second album, "B'Day," which featured her hit singles "Irreplaceable" and "Beautiful Liar."
Along with a successful music career, Beyoncé also appeared in several movies including the Oscar-nominated Dreamgirls. Beyoncé went on to marry rapper Jay-Z in 2008, and that year also saw the release of Beyoncé's third album, "I Am... Sasha Fierce."
Beyoncé went on to release four more albums — "4," "Beyoncé," "Lemonade," and "Black Is King"— and teamed up with Jay-Z on their collaborative album "Everything is Love" in 2018.
In 2012, Beyoncé gave birth to her first child with Jay-Z, Blue Ivy, in 2012, and the couple went on to welcome twins, Sir and Rumi, in 2017.
Beyoncé has sold over 118 million albums worldwide and has 28 Grammy Awards. She is also the co-owner of the music streaming service Tidal and a creative partner with Adidas, where she oversees the development of her athletic brand Ivy Park.
