Get excited, Jeopardy! fans! A new spinoff series dedicated entirely to pop culture questions is coming. Sony Pictures Television's Game Show Division recently announced that the show is called Pop Culture Jeopardy! and that it will steam on Prime Video.
If you know more about Kim Kardashian and TV than world history and politics (pfft, what’s that?) then now’s your time to shine! The show recently put out a request to find contestants to compete. Here’s how to get on Pop Culture Jeopardy!
First, you need a team of three.
On May 15, Jeopardy! posted application instructions to their official Instagram account. “It’s giving ... your time to shine ✨," read the caption. "Grab two friends and take the #PopCultureJeopardy! Anytime Test with the link in bio."
The casting team instructed interested applicants to grab two of their besties with a “diverse range of pop culture knowledge.”
For example, one might dominate in Harry Potter, another might know celebs like the back of their hand, and a third might geek out on Marvel.
The new game show gave fans some idea of the type of questions to expect on their website.
“Contestants, playing in teams of three, will need to be experts in categories from Alternative Rock to The Avengers; Broadway to MMA; Gen Z to Zendaya as they compete in a tournament-style event for the grand prize and ultimate bragging rights,” the text read.
Once the dream team has assembled, applicants must go to the Jeopardy! website and individually take the Anytime Test. This is a 15-minute quiz that tests applicants’ knowledge of all things pop culture. The full rules on how to take the test are found here.
The applications are open now and — get this — Canadians can apply, too! You just have to be over 18.
On Instagram, some users warned others of a technical difficulty that may make applying difficult.
"So no one else can actually click on 'Create a New Team,' right? I've made my account and now, nothing?" a fan commented.
Jeopardy! replied with a solution. "If you are seeing an 'Access Denied' message while registering for the Pop Culture Jeopardy! Anytime Test, please try uploading a different photo during registration," read the official response.
"If the problem persists, try uploading a photo in your Jeopardy.com profile before registering for the test. We are working to resolve this issue. Thank you for your interest in Pop Culture Jeopardy!"
Based on the comments on Instagram, fans are already excited to compete. Hundreds were tagging their friends. “it’s our time, ladies,” one user wrote.
“This is our destiny,” another wrote.
However, some were upset over the team aspect. “Teams of 3?? Jeopardy, I know too much and have no friends. Pls do solo,” one user commented.
“I need three friends,” another commented.
People also wondered who the host will be. “Who’s hosting?!!?? “
No word on that yet. In the meantime, get your applications in!
