Fans were hopeful Summer House: MV was here to stay after it premiered its finale and reunion on May 26, 2024. Alas, the series’ future is in the balance, causing fans to wonder who we need to see about our Oak Bluffs cousins.

So, is this the end of Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard? Here’s the scoop after Distractify spoke exclusively with the Bravo king himself, Andy Cohen.

Like most events, there’s good and bad news regarding Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard’s future. The good news is that Bravo hasn’t canceled the series. However, Deadline reported in May 2024 that the series wasn’t greenlit to start shooting Season 3 after airing two seasons over two years. But Andy Cohen shared that he is personally a "fan" of the show, which bodes well for its future.

He even shared that he thinks Amir Lancaster's girlfriend, Natalie Cortes "would be interesting on the show." So no, Summer House: MV isn't going anywhere. And we're inclined to believe that Andy's interest and thoughts on the future cast additions point to a bright future, despite the show's pause for now.

So far, there’s no word on how long the filming pause will be. The news came after the Season 2 cast — Jasmine Ellis Cooper, Preston Mitchum, Jordan Emanuel, Nicholas “Nick” Arrington, Bria Fleming, Amir Lancaster, Summer Marie Thomas, Alex Tyree, Shanice Henderson, and Noelle Hughley — gathered for the show’s first-ever reunion. The reunion was something the fans and cast fought for when Season 1 ended without one.

Following the show’s pause, several Summer House: MV cast members confirmed the Deadline report was accurate.

Bria shared in an Instagram Story that she and the group were “disappointed” by Bravo’s decision to put the show on ice until further notice.

“Yes, the rumors are true,” Bria wrote. “Our show, Summer House Martha’s Vineyard, has been paused. While it is disappointing to see this happen, we believe it will inspire us to explore new directions in our careers, personal lives, and businesses.”

Preston also responded to the news via Instagram. In the caption of his May 2024 timeline post, the breakout star wrote the show had been paused “until the powers that be figure out what’s in the best interest of the show, the cast, and you, the general public.”

Preston admitted the news of the pause was “undoubtedly disappointing.” Still, he thanked his fans, the “Pres Club,” for championing him and the cast throughout his reality TV journey, noting that the possible ending of SHMV wasn’t goodbye but “see you soon.”

“This journey has been transformative, teaching me invaluable lessons about myself, about people, and about the significant and the often forced responsibility placed on Black queer people to be the voice for reason, accountability, and neutrality for everyone other than themselves,” Preston wrote in his caption.

“It has often made me sit back and think about perceived loyalty, expectations, truth-telling, friendships, and who will be there for me if I am not there for myself. It is an experience I would not trade for the world, and it has blessed me. OK, maybe a few million dollars.”

Amid the news of Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard’s delay, fans wondered what could’ve caused Bravo to put it on ice. One issue that many social media users jumped to was the show’s performance in the ratings department.

Since it debuted on Bravo, Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard’s low live ratings have plagued the show. Many of its supporters, including The Real Housewives of Potomac star Candiace Dillard Bassett, have begged their followers to watch the show and tell their friends.

Unfortunately, in April 2024, one month before news of the pause broke, Bravo Ratings tweeted the show’s fourth episode of Season 2 earned 0.284 million viewers, with only 0.08 in the 18-49 demo.

Still, several fans fired back against the ratings on X, formerly Twitter, stating they tuned in to Summer House: MV on other platforms like Peacock the following day. Accounts like Bravo Ratings only factor in live ratings.

Bravo has yet to confirm if Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard was postponed due to ratings or other factors. Whatever the reason, it’s the network’s loss!
