Princess Anne Sustained Injuries at Her Estate — How Is the Royal's Health?

On June 20, 2024, Buckingham Palace announced that Princess Anne, 73, had sustained injuries at her home the previous evening.

Anne, who is King Charles III's younger sister, was also said to be recovering well in the hospital.

Buckingham Palace's statement notes:

"The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening. Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery."

The statement concluded: "The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery."

So what exactly happened?

A royals source told CNN that Anne was walking near her horses at the time, and that her medical team supposedly said that Anne's injuries were consistent with "a potential impact from a horse’s head or legs."

Anne, a former Olympic rider who competed at the 1976 Olympics, is known for her love of horses and is even known to have once joked, "When I appear in public people expect me to neigh, grind my teeth, paw the ground and swish my tail — none of which is easy."

In general, Anne's been reported to be in good health, with a report from Hello! in March 2024 noting that Anne had been dubbed the "hardest-working royal." In 2023 alone, she reportedly had 247 engagements — apparently more than she'd had the year prior.
