A Hooters server who wore a "birthday girl" sash while on shift revealed how much money she was able to earn after wearing the decorative item during multiple shifts to see if it would influence folks to fork over more money than usual.
Sav (@savwayy) posted about her experience in a viral TikTok and by the end of her sash-wearing shifts, she seemed happy with the final financial outcome.
"Let's see how much I make at Hooters working on my birthday!" she says at the top of the video before continuing, "I don't actually work my birthday but I work today, which is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and then I also work the 26th which is Friday," she clarified.
"I'm gonna wear my birthday sash all of those days and we're gonna see how much I make," she says before the clip transitions to her posting from the interior of her car with a title that reads "Sunday" up top, "Birthday shift one is complete let's see how much I made. I got ten from someone at the bar just for it being my birthday so I think I made a pretty good amount," Sav said.
The Hooters server then begins counting out her money on camera: "Hundred...two hundred..." She then counts out more bills for a grand total of $272 for her Sunday shift.
Sav went on to say that she's going to be wearing the sash on other days of the week and will record just how much money she's going to be making on these days.
The video then cuts to her on "Tuesday" which she denotes in another text overlay. She sits in front of the camera holding what appears to be a pink planner decorated with designs: "It's not Tuesday I did have work on Monday but I came in, had a UTI, was a whole thing, so I ended up leaving and going home."
Sav went on, "But we did get to work Tuesday...let's see how much I made. Keep in mind that I do work the morning shifts, and morning shifts are always slower than night shifts," she said, anticipating that she's not going to make as much money during this weekday earlier shift.
"Just keep that in mind," she says as she counts out several bills in front of the camera, which came to a grand total of $121. Her next video cut shows her sitting in front of the camera, but not in her car. She rocks a black long-sleeved shirt and explains that she wasn't able to upload her initial video the same day as her shift.
"Okay not too much I'm cleaning today and I have some errands to run but I totally forgot to film this yesterday so we're gonna count our money for Friday, today." Her take-home for Friday? Only $178.
Sav went on to say that her gratuity haul could have been larger if she was allowed to work more: "I did end up getting cut early on Friday so I probably would've made more than this but since I went home around two o'clock I still made really, really good money."
"So for three out of the four birthday shifts that I ended up working I made $571 total, yeah that's how much I made working my birthday," the TikToker said at the end of her clip.
The server also clarified in the comments section for the video that she was sure to let folks know the date wasn't her exact birthday: "To clarify I was very vocal each day about it not being my exact birthday and that my birthday was on Wednesday… no one cared. Everyone told me to wear the sash as long as I could… so I did. All love"
There were some users on the application who applauded the amount of money she made working the shifts, with one person penning: "I swear I work at the wrong place."
While another remarked, "If I was American I'd work at Hooters fr"
Another Hooters server wrote in the comments of her video: "From one Hooters girl to another, get your bag mamas"
Someone else asked if her haul was just in cash or if she was factoring in card gratuities as well: "Is that just cash tips or both credit and cash?"
One person who appeared to work for the restaurant in the comments section replied that her take-home more than likely included the card tips as well while explaining the tip-out system to those interested in working as a server for the chain: "Both!! Hooters has us put all credit tips into the system at the end of the night and during checkout, you’ll either owe money (happens when a lot of ppl pay with cash) or they’ll owe you"
Another person asked Sav if she'll ever work night shifts, and the TikToker explained that she "want[s] to" which would probably come with higher tips.
What did you think of Sav's earnings for her shifts? Is it pretty decent, especially considering that she wasn't working at night? Or would you have expected a Hooters server to earn more?
