What do you get when documenting an annual summer getaway featuring 12 (very) different personalities? Drama, drama, and oh yeah, more drama.
Bravo’s Summer House spinoff, Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard, returned for Season 2 on March 24, 2024, and follows a dozen budding reality stars as they vacation in an idyllic coastal town.
Organized by newlyweds Silas Cooper and Jasmine Ellis Cooper, the summer getaway features no shortage of highs and lows. And viewers can't help but wonder how their relationship has evolved or even suffered since filming wrapped in 2022. Are they still together today?
In an exclusive interview with Distractify, ahead of the Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard Season 2 premiere, Jasmine shared how she and Silas are doing today and how they’re navigating a new addition to the Cooper household.
Are Silas and Jasmine Cooper from ‘Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard’ still together?
Shortly before filming for Season 1 of Bravo’s Summer House spinoff, Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard, began, reality television newcomers Silas and Jasmine took their relationship to the next level. The couple said, “I do,” in June 2022, and what followed was something neither of them could have possibly anticipated.
So when approached with the prospect of filming their annual summer getaway, they didn’t think much of it. However, it wasn’t until after filming that they discovered the show was a Summer House spinoff. But the vacation didn’t go off without a hitch. Throughout their time in the first season, many of Silas and Jasmine’s co-stars had plenty to say about the couple’s relationship and Silas’s expectations of his new wife.
During the first season, one of their co-stars and Silas’s fraternity line brother, Preston Mitchum, tweeted that he felt Silas was “controlling.” Preston also shared with Distractify in May 2023 that he felt some of Silas’s behavior towards Jasmine was “oppressive.” However, he expressed he supported the couple if their relationship dynamics worked for them.
Despite a rough first season, Jasmine and Silas are still happily married. In November 2023, Jasmine announced she and Silas were expecting their first child. On March 1, 2024, Jasmine posted the debut photos of her and Silas’s son, Silas “Si” Geplay Cooper, Jr.
The happy news came months after Jasmine shared on her Instagram that Silas Sr. had been deployed for ten months in Eastern Europe shortly after the couple celebrated one year of marriage.
Unfortunately, Silas’s deployment happened during Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard Season 2 filming and their son’s birth. Jasmine exclusively told Distractify that being without her “best friend” in the house this season was a challenging time, and she was thankful she could chat with Silas through video chat while they were miles away.
“It's really hard to do life with your partner long distance because you feel that distance every day,” Jasmine said. “They're not with you physically. And so, thank God we live in a day where we can video chat, text, and do all these things. Because I don't know how I would be holding up, honestly, like that's my best friend; he's extremely brave, but I also have to be brave back home and support our troops in the best way that I can.”
Silas responded to backlash for being “controlling” of Jasmine before their baby’s birth.
After the Summer House spinoff premiered, viewers raised their eyebrows when Silas’s costars deemed him a “controlling husband.” And when he spoke with Us Weekly, the reality star admitted that he can see why some people view his behavior that way.
“I don’t want to be on defense about it,” the Army Reserve officer admitted. “I understand why folks may look at it, and I respect their opinion.”
He continued to explain that he’s grown immensely since he and Jasmine tied the knot and that he won’t stop putting in the work for his marriage.
“Everything I do is out of care and love for the people around me,” Silas noted to the outlet.
Jasmine agreed with her husband that, despite the “bumpy” moments, they shared what they were really going through in Season 1. During our conversation, she said she had the same approach to Season 2, telling us she would navigate being pregnant and filming the alcohol-heavy summer trip.
The screenwriter also told us she’s loving her role as a new mom and is having fun understanding her and Silas’s bundle of joy.
“Motherhood has been really amazing,” Jasmine said. “[I’m] Getting to learn this person that was made out of love. And he learned from me. But you know, this baby keeps me up at night. It's not the easiest, that's for sure. But it is very rewarding. As cliche as that sounds.”
New episodes of Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard air Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo.
