The Rookie

American police procedural drama The Rookie follows John Nolan, played by Nathan Fillion, who becomes the oldest rookie at the Los Angeles Police Department.

The show is based on the real-life story of officer William Norcross, who joined the LAPD in 2015 in his mid-40s. Like William, John is also in his mid-40s, and newly divorced when he decides to pursue a new career as a police officer after being involved in a bank robbery.

The Rookie has had quite a few celebrity guests make cameos on the show including Mario Lopez, will.i.am, Mark Cuban, and Rainn Wilson.

In 2019, actress Afton Williamson left the show and claimed she experienced racial discrimination and sexual harassment during her time on the show. An internal investigation found that her allegations had no merit, and Afton called the investigation "heartbreaking."
