What Happened to 'Good Morning Football'? Viewers Fear for the Show

If you love hearing the latest news in sports, then you're probably a fan of the popular talk show Good Morning Football. The energetic team of hosts includes Jamie Erdahl, Kyle Brandt, Peter Schrager, and Jason McCourty, and also typically features celebrity guests or sports analysts.

Their fresh take on presenting the news has made Good Morning Football one of the top NFL programs. So fans were confused when they noticed that new episodes were not airing during its typical 7 a.m. weekday time slot or 9 a.m. weekend time slot. What happened?

After the March 29, 2024 episode, Good Morning Football seemed to disappear from the NFL Network. But according to what sources revealed to Pro Football Talk, the show will "relaunch later in the summer or preseason" following a move from New York City (where the show has filmed since its 2016 debut) to Los Angeles. As the outlet notes, this could be a big money-saver as the show can utilize the facilities at SoFi Stadium that the league already uses for free.

Meanwhile, a totally separate syndicated show is also apparently in the works, though it's unknown if the cast or crew will include anyone from Good Morning Football.

The outlet also reports that Good Morning Football might be getting cut down from three hours to two; instead of starting at 7 a.m., it may change to 8 a.m. before wrapping up at its usual 10 a.m. time.

Regardless of what's officially going on behind the scenes, the show and its hosts are maintaining that Good Morning Football isn't leaving forever, just changing it up.

"We're moving! You aren't losing us, GMFB is just headed west! Same great show on a new coast," the show tweeted out on March 7, 2024.

On that day's episode, Kyle even assured fans, "Contrary to some oddly worded tweets and ensuing confusion, Good Morning Football is not ending. Good Morning Football, the show, the brand, is going to continue for a very long time." He added: "You're going to have to wait a little while. It's going to be a little different."

Viewers seemed to be less than thrilled about the news, though, with many flooding the comments section under the show's tweet about the situation.

"So no GMFB for draft season?? Talk about a bad decision and awful timing!" wrote one person.

"All the moments in the NYC streets will be missed," said one user, while another echoed: "The New York vibe is a part of the show."

"Appreciate @KyleBrandt giving the company statement but no details on show return, structure, time slots and most importantly host status. Four-five months is a long time to be away," another person tweeted.

"So, for the East Coast, this is really Good Afternoon Football? Happy Brunch Football?" wrote another.

Only time will tell what exactly happens with the show, but here's to hoping we'll be seeing the usual gang back on our screen soon.
