Spoiler alert: This article contains spoilers for Season 2 of Claim to Fame.
Season 2 of ABC's newest reality competition series Claim to Fame kicked off on June 26, 2023. Hosted by brothers Kevin and Frankie Jonas, the name of the game describes it perfectly. Claim to Fame starts with 12 contestants, each of whom is related to a celebrity. One contestant is eliminated in each episode and their identity is revealed. The last person standing takes home a grand prize of $100,000.
So, who has gone home so far on Season 2 of Claim to Fame?
Season 2 got off to an exciting start as the 12 contestants made their way to the Claim to Fame mansion. They had their first introduction to the clue wall, which was filled with items such as a green bench, a bee, a mask, a rhino, and an astronaut.
Episode 1 — Carly Reeves
The contestants' first challenge was a talent show, where it soon became clear that some of them had also inherited their famous family member's talent ... and some definitely didn't. Travis won the challenge and was protected at the Guess-Off and given an extra clue.
Hugo and JR came in last place, and Hugo was elected the season's first Guesser. At the Guess-Off, Hugo chose to target Carly and correctly guessed that she is Tom Hanks's niece (her full name is Carly Reeves).
Carly bid a tearful goodbye to the rest of the contestants and made sure to let Hugo know that she was upset he had targeted her. "I helped you, Hugo. I freakin helped you. I gave you clues, and if any of them are right, I swear I hope you go home because of that."
She then stormed into the mansion and continued sobbing and screaming about how the clues had been too obvious.
Distractify spoke with Carly following her elimination, and she told us that she had some regrets about how her run on the show went. "I really wished I used my Aunt Rita as my celebrity relative," she said. "That would have made it so much harder to guess because not everyone knows her career as well."
Episode 2 — Travis Tyson
Travis decides to put his trust in Jane and shares his clue with the "mom" of the house, thinking she can help him decipher Shayne's identity. Travis shows Jane the clue and says that he can't figure out what "buckwheat" means. Jane tells him that Buckwheat was a character on Saturday Night Live.
During the challenge, Gabriel and Jane come in last place, meaning that they are up for elimination. With many of the housemates targeting Travis for elimination this week, Chris persuades Travis to share Shayne's clue with Gabriel. Travis feels that if he gives the clue to Gabriel, maybe he will target Shayne for elimination. However, both Chris and Gabriel simply don't want Travis to leave with Shayne's clue without anyone but Jane knowing the details. Yes, this game is very sneaky!
During elimination, Gabriel is chosen as the guesser. He decides to backstab Travis and picks him. Gabriel guesses that Travis's "claim to fame" is his dad, Neil deGrasse Tyson. Gabriel's guess is correct and Travis is sent home.
Episode 3 — Jane, aka Jada Star
Up until the third episode of Season 2 and even during the episode, Jane is a fierce player. She gets close to almost everyone and becomes something of the “mama bear” to the younger cast members. In doing so, she even takes Travis under her wing and uses information against him to get him out of the game.
In the third episode, everything changes. Jane is smart when it comes to the Claim to Fame competition. However, she overestimates herself a little bit this time around ahead of this episode’s elimination. She is let in on the clue about Chris and she believes it to be about Elvis. She is sure that Chris is related to Elvis, because of the clue’s information potentially regarding a teen idol, puppy love, and the crown on the clue wall.
During the elimination ceremony, Jane guesses Chris’s relative to be Elvis and she is wrong. Because of this, Jane’s celebrity relative, her aunt Dolly Parton, is revealed. We learn that Jane’s real name is Jada Star and that Dolly even named her. As a result of her incorrect guess, Jane, aka Jada, is eliminated.
Episode 4 — Shayne Murphy
In Episode 4, Shayne and Monay have named their next target, Karsyn. After pulling Karsyn's clue in the last episode, the two guess that she is related to a famous racecar driver. After consulting with Gabriel, they think Karsyn's "claim to fame" is that she is related to NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon.
Hoping to remain in the game, Chris and Karsyn have formed an alliance with one another, and have targeted Shayne. Chris wins this week's challenge and is awarded immunity. When Chris learns that Karsyn is being targeted this week, he tells her that people in the house think she is related to Jeff Gordon. However, Karsyn tells him that they're wrong and she is not. So, is Karsyn lying?
During the elimination, Cole and Hugo are in the bottom two with Cole ultimately being voted as this week's guesser. In a shocking twist, Cole, who has grown super close with Shayne throughout their time on the show, chooses to guess her celebrity relative. Cole guesses right, revealing that Shayne is Eddie Murphy's daughter.
In the end, Cole decides to save himself and go with the sure guess and pick Shayne.
Episode 5 — Cole Cook
Following last week's elimination, Cole is being targeted by several people in the house for betraying Shayne. On the clue wall, Monay sees a piano, a sheet of music, and several references that point to Cole being related to Alicia Keys.
After the fan-favorite "telephone challenge," J.R. and Karsyn are in the bottom two, which means one of them will be chosen as the guesser. Karsyn is voted as the guesser and decides to guess Cole's celebrity relative. She guesses that he's related to Alicia Keys. Cole is the singer's half-brother, which means he's eliminated from the competition.
Episode 6 — Olivia Aquilina
Olivia incorrectly guesses Karsyn's famous relative. She (and everyone else) thought that Karsyn is related to professional race car driver Jeff Gordon. When Olivia makes her guess incorrectly, her own relative is revealed. Everyone finds out that Jenny McCarthy is actually her aunt. Olivia is, ultimately, the one to be eliminated.
Episode 7 — Hugo Wentzel
In Episode 7 of Claim to Fame, Gabriel and Chris win the challenge, which means they're able to nominate two players to be in the bottom two. Gabriel picks Hugo to be in the bottom and Chris nominates himself because he's hoping he can be the guesser. The group picks Hugo to be the guesser and in a surprise blindsiding moment, Hugo decides to guess Chris's famous relative.
Hugo believes Chris's celebrity relative is Elton John — but he's wrong. Unfortunately, Hugo is eliminated from the competition. It's revealed that Hugo is the grandson of former president, Jimmy Carter.
Episode 8 — J.R.
In Episode 8, J.R. goes home after he incorrectly guesses Chris's relative. He guesses it to be Billy Idol, which is wrong. So J.R.'s relative, his brother Lil Nas X, is revealed.
The competition the final five contestants compete in involves answering pop culture questions. J.R., Karsyn, Monay, Chris, and Gabriel have to find celebrities' names on circles placed on the ground. The names are the answers to various trivia questions and each round, there's a race to get to the name on one of the discs the fastest.
Monay wins the competition and J.R. is chosen to be the guesser in this episode. He at first wants to guess Karsyn's family member, but he decides to guess Chris's instead, even though no one has come close to guessing who Chris is related to.
J.R. guesses Chris to be related to Billy Idol. He thinks that Chris is a threat to a lot of players' games. J.R. is wrong and, because he guesses wrong, his relative is revealed and he goes home.
