YouTuber Blaze Was Kicked Out of the FaZe Clan, but He Hasn't Slowed Down

Since 2010, the FaZe Clan has made a name for itself in the world of esports. Having originally gotten their start as a Call of Duty clan consisting of three members, they quickly expanded due to the popularity of their gaming content and accrued several more members to make their mark in other gaming spaces. They created a much larger esports brand and currently have over 8 million subscribers on YouTube. As such, many fans have taken to following certain members of the team.

One of them was Lucas Mosing better known as Blaze or FaZe Blaze. Ever since his first post (which was a montage of trick shots and victories in Titanfall) back in 2013, he has become one of the most popular members of the team and has even established his own career moves in rap as well as selling his own brand of chocolate. After being part of FaZe Clan for more than nine years, he was abruptly kicked off the team in 2024. Blaze has addressed his sudden departure.

Blaze received the news in late April 2024. In a video posted on April 27, he broke down what had happened after he received the news from his former clan mates FaZe Apex and FaZe Temperrr aka Tommy. According to Blaze, he hopped on a call with them to receive the news.

"After nine years and 113 days of being in FaZe, I am no longer in FaZe and will probably never be in FaZe again," he revealed.

The news came as a shock. Blaze admitted that being a part of FaZe was one of the greatest experiences of his career. Although he was saddened by the sudden departure, he was already eager to move on to newer business prospects. Shortly after getting kicked from FaZe, Blaze received news that his brand of caffeinated chocolate, Charge, was going to be sold exclusively at Walmart locations around the country. Along with sharing news of the deal, he also wished his FaZe Clan friends all the best.

As for why Blaze was kicked, the answer seems rather unclear. Current FaZe member Richard Bengtson aka Banks has vaguely addressed the reason behind Blaze's departure.

In an interview, Banks called Blaze his brother and still had high respect for him. However, Blaze's recent content (including a rap video with over 10 million views as of this writing), didn't line up with the vision he had for the future of FaZe.

"Lucas's content is the furthest thing from how we want FaZe represented," Banks admitted.

Although the two events aren't necessarily correlated, Blaze's departure comes during a transitional period for FaZe Clan. In October 2023, the team announced that they had been acquired by an esports company called GameSquare Holdings Inc. Many members were even appointed with lofty positions within this new era for FaZe.

However, deals like this also inevitably involve adjusting one's public image.

While we don't know how Blaze's current career trajectory would have impacted FaZe's image as they move forward within GameSquare, Banks seems to have made it clear that Blaze's vision didn't necessarily align with that of FaZe.
