Target Employee Documents Pandemonium After Closing Entire Store Alone

A Target employee said that they were left to close an entire store alone because they were the only person on a shift of 4 onsite to shutter its doors. The TikTok user, who goes by @ketaminelord on the platform, recorded herself cashing out some 50 registers by herself while documenting how her night got increasingly stressful.

A text overlay in the video reads: "POV: I've only been here for 2 months and unexpectedly had to close the entire store nearly alone. Morning manager left at 3 p.m. and nobody else ever came."

In her clip, the user can be seen talking directly into the lens of her camera, and on-screen captions detail the particulars of her situation: "There are literally only four people working right now and I'm gonna somehow have to close out 24 registers," she says, highlighting just how understaffed the Target she's working in is.

She goes on to say that this includes both guest services and self-checkout registers and that the brunt of the responsibility rests on her shoulders as she's the only person in the store during this particular closing time who knows how to perform any of this work: "I'm like one of the only people who know how to do it," she says.

"There's still no manager. I'm gonna have to close the store by myself," she states, "I literally don't know what the f--- I'm doing," she continues before the video cuts to her pushing a cart through the aisle of the Target store.

It appears that she posted about her experience in a Snapchat style story, as there is a caption that looks like it could be used as part of the social media application appended to her clip: "It's happening whether I like it or not. Literally girl interrupted," she pens in the video's overlay.

The next shot is of all the empty registers in the store she will be required to close out: "32 registers to close, 1 Alisa" she writes, along with an anecdote about a shopper who didn't seem so enthusiastic about the lack of assistance they were (or weren't, rather) receiving during their Target shopping excursion.

"One rude person, complaining about how no one is helping her (there's literally 4 people here)."

The Target employee then goes on to say that she was incorrect about the number of registers as there were others she needed to factor into her closeout procedure: "*was actually closer to ~50 when including tech, Pizza Hut, Starbucks, and CVS registers*"

At one point in the video she snaps a photograph of her in the midst of all of her work: "Help" the caption simply reads

"Standing on business ig." she writes in another caption appended to another selfie where she is clearly frowning, seemingly upset at all of the work that's been left to her and her alone to close out the store.

"Cannot make this s--- up," she writes in another overlay of her video, before posting yet another selfie where she entertains a frightening possible scenario: "Tbh if anyone tries to rob me..."

"I don't want to be here anymore. I'm frightened. I miss my mother." she writes in another caption.

It doesn't seem like she's getting much help from her co-workers while on shift, either, as she posted another video snippet of her speaking into a walkie where she called out another employee on shift with her for taking a bit too long with their break: "you went on your 15-minute break about 30 minutes ago"

"Where are you? I need you up here please" she continues as she records herself speaking into a walkie.

She reveals that the employee in question wasn't necessarily hopping and skipping to rush to her need, either, adding in another overlay: "*literally doesn't come back for another 15 minutes after this*"

"You've been gone for about 30 minutes now you're supposed to be just on a 15," she says into the walkie.

Her video then cuts to a selfie of her showing the time: 11:12 p.m. — and she's still closing out a register. The caption reads: "Pls never again."

She then shows off all of the register closeout folios she accrued throughout her evening: several yellow packets rest on a table and in a plastic bin, the fruit of her hard work for the evening. The time she finally ended her night? 11:40 p.m.. "Finally out this b----," she captions in a photo of her in front of punch in/out screen.

"I came. I saw. I conquered," she writes in another overlay in yet another selfie of her leaving the store. It turns out she wasn't going to have much of a break from the place, however, as she added in another caption that she is heading right back into the establishment for another shift.

"Get to come back here for a shift at 7 a.m. tomorrow. Yay!" she says.

Folks who saw her video were shocked at the amount of work she put in during the single shift. One person asked her if she was given any extra money for the added hustle.

"Please tell me you got some sort of compensation," they asked.

Unfortunately, according to the employee, this wasn't the case: "Nothing extra no," she said.
